Despite mathematically being the third ranked album, Abbey Road has it goin' on.  It has five songs in the top 40 (the most of any album).  And ZERO songs in the bottom 40 (tied with Help, which only has three top 40 though).  It has two songs in the top 10 (again tied with Help), and nearly FIVE in the top 30!  No other album is even close to touching that last one.

George wins the MVP on this album.  His song Here Comes the Sun is a wonderfully optimistic and happy song, that has flirted with being my number one song.  (But 2 isn't too shabby either.)  Something is his other big song that is critically-acclaimed by everyone.  He was definitely hitting his prime and ready to branch out on his own.

Many lists I've read combine the "medley" into one song.  I understand that thinking, but for my relatively small brain, that would make it much harder to rank, which is why I listed all those songs individually.  Just in case any Beatle-fanatic was wondering.

I Want You is a song that suffers for it's overindulgence.  Had the song been 2-3 minutes instead of 7, I would have ranked it much higher.  But it drones on and on, and I have a hard time listening to the whole thing.  (I do like the sudden ending to it though) I know it's a revolutionary song for the heavy metal genre, but this song isn't Hey Jude, and can't get away with being that long. I think the lack of lyrics really hurts it.  Repeating the same two sentences over and over for that amounting of time really wears on my patience.

John more than redeems himself with Come Together.  Another Beatle song that's unlike anything else they'd done before.  Nonsensical lyrics aside, this song is practically addictive.

Although not released last, (more on that on the next page) the Abbey Road album was the last one recorded by the Beatles.  They put aside all their pettiness and "came together" to make a really happy, really awesome, swan song.  Definitely a contender for their best, and as I've mentioned many times, my current favorite; math be damned!
