The Raw After Mania

For the second straight year, Monday Night Raw post-WrestleMania is a show for the ages.  Raw after Mania always has some big, or sometimes monumental moments, but the last two years have been special for one reason:

The crowd was crazy.  Next week everything will go back to "normal" I'm sure.  Cena will be back to the mixed reaction.  (50/50ish instead of probably 85/15 against him)  Ryback will be a heel.  Ziggler will be the heel champion.  Fandango will probably go back to generating no reaction.  Big Show will never ever be "thanked" again.  Maybe not though.  Maybe Ryback will still be cheered?  I guess if he is beating on Cena, at least half the people will be happy.  (If you haven't seen it, watch the Sheamus vs. Orton match, it's hilarious)

Aside from the crowd, the show was really good too.  Undertaker vs. the Shield is very interesting to me.  Daniel Bryan also getting the rub from Taker can't be a bad thing either.  (YES YES YES!)  Hell, I even enjoyed Cena's "heel turn" comment.  Very clever way to stick it to us cynical asshole wrestling fans.

Ziggler's title win was fun because let's face it, Del Rio is a terrible babyface and it's really hard to take Jack Swagger seriously since he went from literally nothing (as in, not on TV for 6 months) to the title match at Wrestlemania.  So Ziggy's involvement was a step in the right direction regardless of how the crowd reacted.

Speaking of sucking as a babyface, Miz and Randy Orton are also piss-poor right now.  I'm sure Orton is still in the doghouse from last year, so they aren't doing much with him, and you can tell he's almost checked out completely.  Miz is the most force-fed babyface in recent memory, and becoming Flair's "apprentice" or "little buddy" whatever you would like to call it, was the most odd pairing I could possibly think of.  Simply put, Miz is terrible as a babyface.  And I found it quite funny he lost the belt last night.

I will say that the "RVD" chant was my favorite of the night, and made me mark out like it was 2001 all over again.  Other than that, it's kind of sad to think that Raw won't be that good again for a whole other year.  I'm sure it's possible that other crowds may try to copycat certain things like the "Ole's" and the wave, but it will come off forced and just not be the same.  So I hope you enjoyed it, and thank Youtube for making it possible to relive the night.
