Semi-final Predictions

Sort of a goofy first round, but that's how it goes sometimes.  So here we go: Western Conference: Lakers vs. Mavericks- It will be interesting to see if the bad blood from the regular season carries over.  Playoffs are at their best when there is hard fouls, maybe some minor scuffles, and that has the potential to happen here.  If Bynum stays in top shape this shouldn't even be close.  Dirk will go down swinging more than likely though.  Lakers in 6. Grizzlies vs. Thunder- Holy Grizzlies.  That's pretty crazy of an upset, but the Spurs are really old and worn out; just imagine what would have happened if Rudy Gay was playing?  The Grizzlies will be a team to watch next year.  This should be a really good series, and an ultimate match up of big men.  Ibaka and Perkins vs. Gasol and Randolph.  In the end though, there is no one on the Grizzlies as good as Durant, and probably not as good as Westbrook.  Thunder in 6. Eastern...

First Round Playoff Preview and Predictions

Where did the time go?  Playoff time is here again.  Let's get to it Western Conference: Spurs vs. Grizzlies- This series would be really interesting if Rudy Gay hadn't gotten hurt, but either way the Grizz gave the Spurs a little trouble in the regular season.  Regardless, Spurs in 6. Hornets vs. Lakers- If there ever was a match up that is 1 on 5, this is it.  Chris Paul will have to do everything in his power not to get swept here.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.  Lakers in 5. Blazers vs. Mavericks- Here's where everyone is predicting upset.  I think they are right.  Mavericks are notoriously chokers.  Blazers in 7. Thunder vs. Nuggets- The young guns go at it.  In the end Durant will exert dominance and the Thunder win in 6. Eastern Conference: Hawks vs. Magic- 2 inconsistent teams go at it.  Probably an ugly series like last year.   Magic win in 5. Celtics vs. Knicks- This one should be entert...

Nirvana Definitely Wasn't A Lounge Act

Image
On September 24th of this year, "Nevermind" will be 20 years old.  I don't think any rock, or music fan in general for that matter can debate it's significance.  It's one of the greatest albums ever, period.  Though that's not what I want to talk about today.  I want to talk about one song in particular.  Any true Nirvana fan will already know what song I'm talking about just due to the play on words I used in the title.  Lounge Act  is a great song.  If you have the album, pop it in, or click on it depending which method you use, and turn it to song nine.  What I'm not here to do is tell you it's the best song on the CD.  It's not.  The mainstream audience will unamiously praise "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as the greatest.  While a little less casual fan may argue for "Come As You Are," "In Bloom," or "Lithium."  Or the more hardcore fan may suggest that "Drain You," "Polly," or ...

Foo Fighters Doc...

VH1 had the FF's documentary "Foo Fighters: Back and Forth" on Friday night, and what a wonderful little piece of work it was.   ( Trailer ) It was great first of all because it was commercial free.  If they show replays, I'm sure it won't be, but that was a real treat.  Also, it was nearly 2 hours long!  That's what I'm talking about. As big of FF fan as I am, I will admit that I didn't know too much about their personal history (music aside).  Did you know that drummer Taylor Hawkins almost died of a drug overdose and was in a coma because of it?  Yeah, me neither.  The documentary did a great history of the group, and their multiple lineup changes.  Then the last portion was dedicated to the recording of their new album "Wasting Light."  Any Nirvana fans out there may be curious to know that former bassist Krist Novoselic is featured in the song "I Should Have Known."  There was also cool footage of Dave and the gang...

Wrestlemania Preview

Nothing like waiting until the last minute.  Wrestlemania will start in minutes, so here's my predictions.  For my other Wrestlemania blog about HBK go here. Edge vs. Del Rio World Heavyweight Title- I foresee a Christian heel turn costing Edge the match.  Followed by a Christian vs. Edge feud (duh) 10 years after the original.  Cena vs. Miz WWE Title- As much as I would love to see the Miz retain, how do you bet against Cena at Wrestlemania?  It's pretty much like betting against the Undertaker.  New champ: Cena Orton vs. CM Punk- This should be the match of the night.  Probably the two best workers in the WWE going at it.  Hopefully this will be a long feud, but if not it should still be a fantastic technical battle.  Undertaker vs. HHH- Undertaker obviously.  However, if one person was going to beat him, it surely would be Son In Law.  However the safer bet is Taker, and that's where I'm leaning.  Lawler vs. Cole- ...

Aaron Lewis In Concert Is Incredible

Image
If you don't know who Aaron Lewis is, get familiar with him.  He's the lead singer of Staind, and he currently has a country CD out.  I personally hate country music, but I knew he would play some Staind songs, and his voice is so amazing that I probably would have went even if he didn't.  It was general admission, so me and my buddy got right up front.  We were in awe for the whole night.  He interacted with fans, sang his heart and soul out, and everyone went home happy.  Yeah, he played "Country Boy," but also the Staind staples like, "It's Been A While," "Outside," "So Far Away," "Epiphany," and some more obscure ones "Please"  and "Intro."  He did some covers too.  A few were mockeries, for example a fan yelled out "PURPLE RAIN!" so he did his best Prince impersonation.  He also did "Patience" by GNR, and surprisingly sounded similar to Axl. Aaron's song writing is top ...
