**UPDATE** The '96 Draft Remix

The first NBA draft I ever watched was in 1996.  I will say that it was a hell of a good one to start with.  My feelings are that it was the deepest draft ever.  Apparently I wasn't alone in these thoughts.  "Way" back in 2005, issue 96 of SLAM magazine also called it the deepest draft ever.  (Not a bad guess for a little kid)  I didn't know too much about basketball back in the day, but always was blown away by the talent in that draft.  Even though subsequent drafts like '03 (LeBron's) or '84 (Jordan's) got more attention it seemed.  I was happy, if nothing else, for sentimental reasons that '96 was getting the props I knew it deserved.  The SLAM article ranked those players drafted, on how they should have been drafted.  So essentially I'm just updating that because a lot has happened since 2005.  They had Iverson #1 and Kobe #2.  Well that gets changed of course because '06-'08 were Kobe's peak years talent-wise, and...

Superhero Overkill

Am I the only one who thinks the new Spiderman looks a little corny?  It also just doesn't look quite right visually either.  I would suppose they are trying to distance themselves from the original, which is good, but I don't feel this is the right way.  I may be way off on this, but until I hear otherwise, I have no desire to watch the new Spiderman flick. I also saw The Avengers recently.  Yeah, it's been out for almost two months, but I kept dragging my feet (combined with the fact a 2 year old doesn't allow much Mommy and Daddy time).  I wasn't real thrilled about all the superheroes being lumped together.  I figured there would be too much going on. So after it broke numerous box office records, I finally went to see it.  I got to say, after about 30 minutes I was bored to tears.  Why did it take so long to get into the action?  Aren't these characters already established from their solo movie(s)?  The movie did get better fort...

The 2012 NBA Finals In All Its Glory

It all starts tomorrow night.  The sexiest possible match up that we could have asked for.  Not since '08 when the Lakers tangled with the Celtics have the two teams that everyone thought going into the playoffs, would succeed, actually did.  The question is: will it deliver?

10 Years of Cena

Image
One whole decade of John Cena.  His run (the wrestling portion) is longer than Stone Cold's and The Rock's.  That's incredible to think about.  While he hasn't had the cultural impact as those two gentlemen have had, he still nontheless has blazed his own trail with no one as a close second. He's been the most over guy in the company, and the most despised guy (and not because he was supposed to be).  He's been an innovative free-style rapper, to a giant ball of merchandise "rapped" around a human being.  I remember John Cena's debut crystal-clear.  He came out to face Kurt Angle, telling him he had "ruthless aggression" (WWE's theme for about 2 weeks) and the crowd responded surprisingly well, and Angle and Cena had a really good TV match.  He fell off the map after his first month, albeit a nice feud with Jericho to start with (He can thank Jericho for it even happening in the first place).  Allegedly he was on the verge of b...
