The Dark Knight Rises

What can I say?  After going totally in the opposite direction with my Dark Knight rampage from last year, I have nothing but good things to say about The Dark Knight Rises.

Raw 1000 Thoughts

I must say that I was impressed.  I had a terrible feeling Raw 1000 was going to fall flat on its face.  Just due to the fact it was getting kicked off with DX made me want to hurl.  I could write a whole blog on this, but I hate DX from 2006-forward.  It doesn't work for me, plain and simple (Glowsticks really?)  When the boys in green came out, I tweeted, "If '97 DX could see DX now, they would piss all over them."  So they started out doing their not-funny antics, when suddenly the light broke through and shined on us wrestling fans.  Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac came out too.  I've been a huge X-Pac mark since day one, so him alone was great to see.  The New Age Outlaws were just gravy.  I thoroughly enjoyed the (hopefully) one night reunion.  HHH and Stephanie lured Heyman into accepting the challenge of HHH against Brock for Summerslam in yet another fairly entertaining segment.  I'm interested to see if those two...

"In This Arduous Battle Because No Fight Is More Worthwhile"...For Amelia

When you read the title of this, or when you saw it on the t-shirt, you probably assumed some 19th century poet or philosopher published it in some book.  You would be wrong.  It was the words of a 24 year old dying girl.  Not only did she give us that nice little quote, she lived it as well.  It took me many years to finally admit to myself that Amelia is the person most like me in this world.  You see, Amelia and myself fought like a cat and a dog growing up.  We used to argue about the most ridiculous stuff.  Part of our problem was that we have the famous Parenza trait of "telling it like it is," which naturally leads to some tempers being set off.  So with all that in mind, it really struck a chord with me when I peeled back all the layers of nonsense to realize, "Hmmm... she thinks and acts just like me!"   We are both on more of the "alternative" side of things, which I guess may mean we could be a tad "weird" a...

10 Years After The MWA

If anyone stumbles upon this, it's a joke meant for only one person.  So if you don't get it, you're not alone so don't worry about it.

LeBron Gets His

Sure this is a tad late, but really it's never to late to gloat.  Last November I wrote this , asking 20 questions going into the NBA season.  The most important one being if LeBron figures out whatever had been bothering him the last 3 seasons, then it's all over for everyone else.  Well he did that.  LeBron has done a lot wrong the past few years, and everyone, myself included, has ripped him for it.  We knew he wasn't Carmelo-bad, but would he forever be the "talented loser"?  Let's face it, Carmelo never has gotten out of the first round (minus the year Chauncey saved him), and LeBron is at least 10 times better than Melo, but he seemed almost destined to forever be just one notch ahead of him.  My point is, that it was almost frustrating to see LeBron choke for three straight seasons, when at worst was the second best player in the game.  I'm no Heat fan, (for the record) but I'm kind of happy in a way that he did win.  Just li...

Super Steve To The Rescue

Image
Well here it is, yet again another trade for LA.  It seemed somewhat of a pipe dream for Nash to end up on the Lakers, but given his reason to stay close to the kids, it does make sense.  Will this make the Lakers a championship team?  Maybe.  If Steve can dictate the pace, and if Kobe/Bynum will accept that, then Steve is just the type of guard that the Lakers have needed for a long time.  (He also can hit the 3!  Another thing the Lakers haven't had since... Sasha Vujacic's one good year in '07-'08.)  There are quite a few negatives though.  Nash never could guard anybody, and now being even older, he especially can't.  So it looks like Kobe will still be guarding the other team's PG.  Also the dude is 38 and not with the Sun's miracle-working training staff anymore.  He easily could break down halfway through the season, and all will be lost.  They also gave up 4 draft picks.  Not that the Lakers ever...
