Super Steve To The Rescue

Well here it is, yet again another trade for LA.  It seemed somewhat of a pipe dream for Nash to end up on the Lakers, but given his reason to stay close to the kids, it does make sense.

Will this make the Lakers a championship team?  Maybe.  If Steve can dictate the pace, and if Kobe/Bynum will accept that, then Steve is just the type of guard that the Lakers have needed for a long time.  (He also can hit the 3!  Another thing the Lakers haven't had since... Sasha Vujacic's one good year in '07-'08.)

There are quite a few negatives though.  Nash never could guard anybody, and now being even older, he especially can't.  So it looks like Kobe will still be guarding the other team's PG.  Also the dude is 38 and not with the Sun's miracle-working training staff anymore.  He easily could break down halfway through the season, and all will be lost.  They also gave up 4 draft picks.  Not that the Lakers ever would be in the running for a stud in the draft, but essentially trading away youth for age.  And what if Kobe and Nash can't get along?  It's probably unlikely, but always possible with those egos.  Doesn't Nash also like to run and gun?  I can't see Bynum running or gunning, unless it gives him more opportunities to shoot 3's.  (Sarcasm)

So what I'm saying is that they are rolling the dice here.  It totally could work, but there is a downside that some people may be choosing to ignore.

P.S. I know this is late, but there is a LeBron blog here.  I've procrastinated it too long.
