I was pretty surprised that this bad boy finished at number five. As you will notice as you keep reading, it keeps to formula with three top 40 songs, and one bottom 40. It was even higher than the beloved Rubber Soul and Revolver. I thought for sure Revolver would be higher,-but nope. Then I got to looking at the top five songs on here. The lowest rank is Hard Day's Night at 53. Compared to PPM, which I have been gushing over, it's fifth ranked song is Love Me Do at 76. Not to give any spoilers, but only two other albums have a better top five than this one.
The two main singles come in at a tad above the middle of the pack (A Hard Day's Night, Can't Buy Me Love). That's kind of weird because I usually really like at least one of the singles. But I just can't deny the easy-going nature of And I Love Her, or If I Fell. Or, the dynamic duo of harmonic and acoustic guitar on I Should Have Known Better. And who can forget the completely unique Things We Said Today? I've always found that song so interesting, and I can't quite put my finger on it.
