Wrestlemania 16 Rebook
Wrestlemania 2000 had a lot wrong with it. The first thing being they called it "Wrestlemania 2000." So from now on it will be "16." If you want to see the actual card click here.
The biggest issue was the main event. The fatal 4 way for the title. Rock vs. HHH was a foregone conclusion going in, and the next 2 months they had amazing matches together. Yet, they still felt the need to insert retired Foley and Big Show. (Not to mention, a McMahon in every corner!!!) Anytime Big Show is in the main event, it equals shit. End of story. Foley was convinced by Vince to come back even though he was content being retired. I'm sure Foley would take this match back if he could. So Foley is off the card all together. Big Show I have other plans for.
Show was rapidly declining, and soon would be in developmental. Let's get him there quicker by having Kane squash him. Kane was in a ridiculous tag match with Rikishi vs. Road Dogg and X-Pac. Had Kane vs. Pac not been going on since late October, that would be the match to have. However it was well played out at this point, so like usual, Kane has nothing to do at Wrestlemania and is thrown into something. Let him beat the tar out of Big Show to keep him looking strong.
So that leaves Road Dogg, X-Pac, and Rikishi in the air. With the exception of the Rock, Rikishi was arguably the most popular guy in the company. X-Pac, on the other hand, was probably the most despised villain. Let's have Rikishi vs. X-Pac, and Road Dogg can be in Pac's corner constantly interfering. People would have dug that I think.
T&A and Head Cheese had a horrible match on the show, and Al tried to get his Chester Cheese mascot over in the process. Make the "Let's go Head Cheese" a segment for Heat, then have T&A come out and beat them down. Makes them look tough, makes Al and Steve sympathetic, and we don't have to sit through that garbage match.
Godfather and D-Lo vs. Bull and Bossman would simply be eliminated. No one gave two shits about them. Maybe Godfather a little, but his popularity was rapidly declining like the Big Show. If you have to have it to get Ice-T's rap on there, put it on Heat! Again, it leaves more room for the rest of the show. Hell just have Ice-T rap on Heat, then have the Ho's dance. I'm guessing people would have liked that better.
The triangle ladder match obviously stays the same. That thing is perfection in my eyes. The triple threat for the IC and Euro belts also stay the same. The cat fight I could live without, but knowing the time period, that was something they liked to do, so they can leave it in I guess. The hardcore "battle royal" also can stay, but obviously you would want the finish to be not fucked up like it was. (You could also cut down the number of guys in the match, to make it less confusing.) And finally the 6-person tag match can also stay because it was good fun.
So here's how my card would go:
Heat:
Head Cheese segment, T&A beats them down.
Ice-T rap/Godfather and D-Lo vs. Bull and Bossman, whatever you feel would work best.
Wrestlemania 16:
Hardcore Battle Royal, Crash wins so the finish isn't screwed up like it was in reality.
Chyna and Too Cool vs. Radicalz, Chyna and Too Cool win
Big Show vs. Kane, Kane squashes him
Triangle Ladder Match, Edge and Christian win
Cat fight, who cares
Benoit vs. Jericho vs. Angle, Benoit 1st fall, Jericho 2nd
Rikishi vs. X-Pac
Rock vs. Triple H
I left the last two winners blank so I can explain them now. I could see them going either way in my fantasy world. Regardless of which babyface wins, the heel in the other match needs to win. I'm thinking you could still do the crazy Vince turn in the main event, leading to the rematch at Backlash like it actually happened. (I realized this would have created Rock vs. HHH at 3 straight PPV's, but would anyone have cared? They could do no wrong at the time.) So if that's the case, Rikishi should win the semi-main. You could even have it be a DX vs. Rikishi with a 'Kish win to make him look extra strong. Then have Too Cool come dance with him.
However if you have Rock win the main event, (which many would) then have X-Pac cheat to beat Rikishi. Then maybe have Rikishi and Too Cool feud with DX the next month. I'm cool either way. I'm also convinced my Wrestlemania 16 is way better than how it really went down.
