Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare...

Tag teams aside, when Steen was given the ball to run as a singles star, he usually delivered.  His matches against Nigel McGuinness in 2008 are some of the most underrated outings in ROH history.  Then, in what was probably the most infamous heel turn in ROH, Steen turned on his long time tag partner El Generico at Final Battle 2009, and continued to feud for a solid year.  (Not to mention off and on again until Generico’s departure after Final Battle 2012.)

Since that time, and through “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare”, Steen has essentially become the face of the company (literally and figuratively).  Steen could very easily move higher up this list before it’s all said and done.

My 2 Cents

My first impression of Steen was, “That fat guy can really do some cool flips.”  He was also entertaining to me in the way he would mock his opponents, and the fans.  So I became a fan.  He soon devolved into one of, if not the best promo guy in the company.  Again something that set him apart from a lot of the other guys in ROH.
