Faces In The Wrong Places
Today's topic is about 3 wrestlers who jumped ship to TNA, but never quite felt (according to me anyway) like "TNA guys".
1. Mick Foley
Mick is a WWE guy, plain and simple. Some may think of him as a ECW legend, but there is no doubting that he is mainly known as the "big ugly guy with the sock". And we love that big ugly guy. TNA seemed like a big step down for Mick, and I feel he only went there because he was pissed at Vince. Mick doesn't need to wrestle anymore and he can get wrestlers/angles over with his uncanny promo abilities. TNA in turn, made him the champion for crying out loud. No offense Mick, but you don't need to be champion at this stage of your "part-time career", and this move screams everything that is wrong with TNA.
2. Jeff Hardy
Let's pretend hypothetically speaking, that Jeff's substance abuse issues are a non factor. When Jeff was hitting his stride in WWE he was the company's second biggest star behind John Cena, whether he was main eventing or jerking the curtain. Didn't matter, Jeff has a charisma that so few have. He was great as the underdog, and you could totally get behind him. Jeff in TNA is somewhat a big fish in a small pond. They shove him down our throats and we all gag. I mean let's face it, when he wrestles an Austin Aries for example, Aries is so damn good it makes Jeff look like a geezer. WWE doesn't have guys like Aries or Styles (for the most part) who can even outshine Jeff (in-ring wise) so Jeff is still the darling, and doing so on a much bigger level. Maybe it's just me. All I know is, I cheer Jeff Hardy in WWE. In TNA, I would much rather cheer Aries, Joe, Styles, Daniels etc. Jeff is a WWE guy through and through. And I think he only went to TNA for the second time, was because he was mad at WWE (GASP!) for making fun of him after he left in '09. Let's hope he makes it back there before he hangs up his purple boots.
3. Booker T
Booker was always in the background in TNA...literally. When he was in the Main Event Mafia (remember that pile of crap?) he stood behind as Angle, Sting, and even crazy Scott Steiner did all the talking. It seems that Booker too, just went to TNA because he was tired of WWE- or at least needed a break.
1. Mick Foley
| Yes Foley vs. Abyss was a dream match, but Foley never quite fit with TNA crowd. |
2. Jeff Hardy
