The New York Knickerbockers Are Destined To Fail

I don't care how good they look.  I don't care how good the bench plays.  I don't care how good Carmelo is or isn't.  This Knicks team can't win.  Not in the long run; not with this roster.

Look at some of the names on this team: Jason Kidd, JR Smith, Amare, RASHEED WALLACE, and of course Melo.  Does that look like a group of good chemistry guys?  (Granted, Chandler, Camby, and Brewer are pretty good ones, but not enough to offset) Rasheed will eventually flip out on the bench and probably pummel some poor fan.  The dude has issues.  JR has altercations within the team, or driving a car, or basically just walking down the street every single year.  The dude has issues.  Amare was very talented.  Amare is a big baby.  Amare is now a mediocre player, making big-time money, and is still a baby.  Kidd is 395 years old.  The dude's got physical issues.  This is a recipe for disaster (let alone a championship run) and I haven't even gotten to Carmelo yet.

Carmelo is quite the enigma.  He's a big name, yet was never as big as Wade or James.  Yet he was big enough one that he has always gotten overrated by many.  He has skill, but he's not going to lead you to a championship.  He's not a good teammate, unless he's on an Olympic team, then in his mind, has reason to respect his teammates, and be a team player.

He may be like Iverson in that respect, but Iverson also lead a mediocre team to the NBA Finals.  That's impressive, I don't care if they didn't win.  LeBron also did this.  Even when people thought that he may not have a killer instinct, he still did this.  Carmelo has made it out of the first round of the playoffs ONE time.  That was due mainly Chauncey Billup's last great season (he was traded to Anthony's Nuggets that year).  That's not a very impressive stat for a supposed superstar.  I guess you can call Melo the modern day T-Mac.  Great scorer, big name, sells merchandise, doesn't win.

Playoffs is where you separate the men from the boys.  All the greats have made their mark in the playoffs, winning a championship or not.  Carmelo Anthony has come nowhere close to doing this which is why the Knicks are destined to fail with him at the helm.

Could a trade be made to rectify this situation?  Sure.  If they do end up with Chris Paul that would be a step in the right direction.  But with all the crazies on this team, and a fake leader leading them, there is no possible way that the Knicks make any kind of noise in April or May.
