NBA Awards and All NBA Teams
We're just on the verge (pun intended) of the NBA regular season awards being dished out. Pops has already been named the Coach of the Year, so here's what I think for the remaining awards:
Rookie of the Year: Kyrie Irving, this isn't really even close since Rubio went down. Had Rubio stayed healthy all year a strong case could be made for him to win it. Let's face it, the Wolves got much better than anyone expected this year. Don't believe me? Read this. Anyway, congrats to Kyrie
Most Improved: This one is harder, just because it's not defined very well. Does a really good player that becomes a great player get it? Or a nobody that becomes a somebody? I can see the argument either way and I'm going with Andrew Bynum. He is borderline a franchise talent, and (GASP!) only missed one game! He carried the Lakers in many games, and aside from his momentary lapses of judgment, has had a phenomenal year. Mad props also go to Ryan Anderson, Jeremy Lin, and Nikola Pekovic. All three were nobodies when the season started, and became key components to their teams successes when they were on the the floor. (I realize Anderson tailed off at the end, and Lin and Pek got hurt.)
6th Man of the Year: James Harden, and no one else is even a close second. Honestly I couldn't give you a runner up.
Defensive Player of the Year: Tyson Chandler is the man, and the only defensive presence on a hapless Knickerbocker team. You can also throw Dwight Howard, and Josh Smith on here as well.
MVP: LeBron James. Man I have debated this one back and forth for a while now. Why LeBron over Durant? Honestly I don't know, it just feels right. Maybe because I think Russell Westbrook is better than Wade (right now), therefore Durant has more help? Could be, but maybe not. Either way Durant is runner up number one. Also needing mention is Chris Paul (who is firmly the best PG in the NBA again), Kobe, Nash, and Parker.
