Dig Deep Into the Beatles Catalog
Odds are though, you know many. You may not however recognize these overlooked gems. (So there will be no Hey Jude, Help!, or Revolution. Or if you are even more clever, no I Am the Walrus, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, or Eleanor Rigby.)
Click the song title for a listen.
Glass Onion: Not only does Ringo rock the drums, but Lennon name-drops several other Beatle songs in this little diddy.
No Reply: I love the way they shout "I SAW THE LIGHT" and "I NEARLY DIED".
I'm So Tired: The way this song is structured, you can almost feel your head trying to nod off to it; and I mean that in the best possible way. (I personally would think about these lyrics a lot when my baby was first born, and she wouldn't ever sleep. So I always think of that time period when I hear this song.)
I've Just Seen a Face: If for nothing else, this song is awesome because of how fast Paul sings it.
Things We Said Today: I love the way the guitars kick in at the beginning.
Polythene Pam: This gets lost in the Abbey Road Medley, but I think it's the best of all the parts. Very rockin' and catchy.
Across the Universe: No not the movie. I know this one is debatable, but the reason I chose to include it is because I feel that the Let It Be Naked version is superior to the original release, and most don't own Naked.
And Your Bird Can Sing: Very catchy, upbeat tune.
Dear Prudence: Wonderful mellow song.
If I Needed Someone: Nice little George song.
It Won't Be Long: She Loves You's cousin, and we already know how much I love She Loves You.
Taxman: This may be the most famous one that I've listed, however I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves. The lyrics are amazing.
One last note, I didn't put any Sgt. Pepper songs here because most people say it's the greatest, so if that's the case, the songs should be the most listened to of all the songs. Plus, the Beatles themselves didn't even release a single off of it, instead wanting the whole album to be listened to. So to preserve their wish, go listen to it beginning to end.
These songs are just on the verge of victory!
