RIP Macho Man Randy Savage

Another sad death in the world of wrestling.  The Macho Man is the latest tragedy in wrestling.  This is a pretty big deal for a couple of reasons.  The first one that comes to mind is that he is probably the biggest, name-wise, of all the  "gone too soon" wrestlers.  No disrespect to Owen, Eddie, Pillman, Benoit, Yokozuna, Mr. Perfect etc.  This is probably the biggest death of a marquee star since Andre back in '93. I mean if you put the wrestling heircharcy into place, only a premature death of Hogan, Rock, Austin, Goldberg, Undertaker, and maybe a few others would be a bigger headline.  (Please don't take this as a knock to the other deceased men.  My point is that most people don't know who Brian Pillman is; but everyone knows who Hulk Hogan is.)

My other thought was that hopefully it wasn't steroid-related.  He was 58, so it could have had no foul play involved.  I'm sure Savage, (like most of the era) did his fair share, but wrestling doesn't need anymore steroid scandals.  The big feds are working hard to enforce their drug-testing policies, and should be commended and not ridiculed by the general public.  This obviously would only add fuel to their fire, and that's obviously something the wrestling industry doesn't need.

But to end on a more positive note, Macho was a great worker, and will be missed.  One of the most flamboyant and charismatic wrestlers of all-time that should someday be a Hall of Famer. (I'm guessing this will speed up the process.)  Here's the Macho Man's finest moment.  (Sure he loses, but it's an all-time classic!)

RIP OHHHHH YEEEE-AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM!!!!!!!
